Terms of Service

1. Who we are

More Moonshots is provided by Burmarsh Systems Ltd, a company registered in Northern Ireland (company number NI743398), registered office 7 Mount Ober Gardens, Belfast, County Antrim, BT8 6BL, Northern Ireland, contactable at me@deanwild.co.uk. In these terms “we”, “us” and “our” mean that company, and “you” means you, the person using More Moonshots.

2. These terms

By signing in to More Moonshots you agree to these terms. If you do not agree to them, do not use the site. Please also read our Privacy Policy, which explains how we handle your data.

More Moonshots is free. Nothing in these terms affects your statutory rights as a consumer.

3. What More Moonshots is, and what it is not

It is a place for optimists, builders and founders to follow what’s moving, find each other, show what they are building and have useful conversations.

It is not a professional network with guarantees, an investment platform, or a source of advice. Members post their own opinions. We do not check that anything a member tells you is true, and we do not vet the moonshots listed here. If you are going to send someone money, take a job, or sign something on the strength of a conversation that started here, do your own diligence exactly as you would anywhere else.

4. Joining

Membership is by invitation while the community is getting started, and we may decide who to admit. You must be at least 16, sign in with a Google or LinkedIn account or an email address that is genuinely yours, and describe yourself honestly. One person, one account. Do not impersonate anyone, and do not create an account on behalf of someone else.

5. Your content stays yours

You keep ownership of everything you post. By posting it you give us permission to store it and display it to other members so the site can work — nothing more. We will not sell your content, license it to anyone else, or use it to advertise. If you delete something, that permission ends, subject to the retention note in section 10 of the Privacy Policy.

You are responsible for what you post: that you have the right to post it, and that it does not break the law or someone else’s rights.

6. How to behave

The rules are short, because they are mostly obvious.

  • Be civil. Disagree with the idea, not the person.
  • No harassment, abuse, hate speech, threats or sexual content, and nothing that targets someone because of who they are.
  • No spam, no bulk pitching, no scraping the member list, and no using the community as a lead list. Talking about what you are building is the point of the site; cold-selling to everyone in it is not.
  • Do not post anything illegal, anything that is not yours to share, or anyone else’s personal information.
  • Do not try to break the site, get around its limits, or access data that is not yours.
  • Where something is clearly shared in confidence, keep it that way.

7. Moderation

We can remove content and suspend accounts that break these terms. When a moderator removes something of yours, you get a message explaining why — we do not remove things silently. If you think we got it wrong, reply to that message or email us and a person will look at it again.

We would much rather have a quiet word than remove anyone. Suspension is for people who are making the place worse on purpose.

8. Direct messages

You can message members you are connected with. These messages are private from other members, but they are not end-to-end encrypted and a moderator can remove one that has been reported. Section 6 of the Privacy Policy explains exactly who can see them. Please read it before sending anything sensitive.

9. What you can expect from us

More Moonshots is free and is run by one person alongside a day job. We will look after it, but we do not promise that it will always be available, that nothing will ever be lost, or that problems will be fixed to any particular timescale. Features may change. Keep your own copy of anything you would be sorry to lose.

If we ever have to close the site, we will give members reasonable notice and a chance to take their content with them.

10. Liability

Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot legally be limited — including your statutory rights as a consumer.

Beyond that, and to the fullest extent the law allows: we are not liable for what other members say or do, for anything you lose by relying on something you read here, or for the site being unavailable. This is a free service, and our total liability to you is limited accordingly.

11. Ending it

You can leave whenever you like — email us and we will close your account. We can suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, or close the site as described in section 9. The Privacy Policy explains what happens to your data afterwards, and how to have it erased.

12. Changes to these terms

If we change these terms we will update the date at the top, and tell members if the change matters. Carrying on using the site after a change means you accept it.

13. Governing law

These terms are governed by the law of Northern Ireland, and the courts of Northern Ireland have jurisdiction. If you live elsewhere in the UK or in the EU, you keep the protection of the mandatory consumer law of the place you live, and may bring proceedings there.
